D1-FlexCounter Data Logger with ALARMS

The logger acquires events or closures of the input contact which in the case of the rain gauge correspond to an oscillation of the rocker. The events must be spaced at least 3 seconds apart to be stored (events every 3 seconds correspond to a rainfall of 240 mm/h). The logger writes to an EVENT text file that can be read directly by any editor and can also be opened with Excel (separator
of list: tab).

Each reading reports the absolute date and time in “dd/mm/yy hh:mm:ss” format, the cumulative (in mm) reached since the card was inserted, the cumulative in the last time interval (default: 30 minutes , or the value of the first threshold interval set in the configuration file), a character that signals the battery status (1 = battery charged, 0 = battery discharged).
For a rain gauge with an area of ​​500cm2, each event corresponds to 0.2mm of precipitation.

Setting alarm thresholds

Up to 5 alarm thresholds can be programmed in the logger. Each threshold is made up of two values: a time interval (in minutes) and a precipitation value (in number of events).
The threshold is considered exceeded if a number of events greater than or equal to the number of events set for the threshold occurs in the time interval.

Example:

If a threshold is 30 events (=6mm of precipitation) in 5 minutes, the threshold is exceeded if 30 or more events occur in 5 minutes.
The time interval is always a moving window in one minute increments (for example for a 5 minute interval, precipitation is calculated from 12:00 to 12:05, then from 12:01 to 12:06, etc) .
If the threshold is exceeded, the logger can activate one or more digital outputs, which in turn can: energize relays, turn on warning lamps or sirens, or any function required.
The alarm function works even if the SD card for storage is not inserted (provided the threshold configuration has been read by the logger).
